Event Details

Founded in 1995 and incorporated in 2009, the Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival celebrates the region’s long history of maple syrup production. The Festival includes a traditional maple syrup sugar shack, a pancake breakfast, horse-and-wagon and pony rides, Indigenous and pioneer display, an arts and crafts market, lawn tractor pull demonstrations, and tours of local modern maple syrup production facilities. The Festival quite literally takes over the Town of Sunderland.

This application is for the “2024 Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival”, taking place April 6 to 7, 2024 in the town of Sunderland in Durham Region. Programming will include:

(1) Harlaine Maple Products sugar shack which includes Indigenous and pioneer displays, demonstrations of current production methods, and pancake breakfasts;

(2) live all-day family entertainment by local musicians and artists;

(3) petting zoo and pony rides attraction;

(4) the Durham wildlife Rescue Soper Creek;

(5) the Blacksmith demonstration by Fallen Willow Forge;

(6) the Clydesdale horse interactions;

(7) Air Bounce Adventures bouncy castle feature to the lineup;

(8) Sunderland Historical Museum open house;

(9) tours of Salem Alpaca Farm and a local modernized dairy farm;

(10) fine arts & crafts show and sale;

(11) Durham Farm Connections Agricultural Display; and

(12) Stoker Biomass Heating demonstration at Northern Metalworks.
