Elora Festival's 40th Anniversary
Project Description:
This funding is for the marketing of the “Elora Festival's 40th Anniversary”, enhanced programming taking place July 12 to 28, 2019 in four venues in Elora: Gambrel Barn, St. John’s Church, Wellington County Museum and Knox Presbyterian Church. Anniversary programming will feature 30 presentations across two events. Highlights include:
(1) a screening of Joan of Arc accompanied by an orchestra and choir featuring professional musicians from throughout the region;
(2) Canadian fiddler and composer Natalie MacMaster with The Elora Singers in an interactive choir experience akin to a “Choir choir choir!” performance;
(3) commissioned works will be presented by First Nations composer and musician Barbara Croall and The Elora Singers (featuring a 3D mapped projection of the local Quarry);
(4) a performance by Measha Brueggergosman;
(5) performances by Room Full of Teeth and Scrap Arts Music, both of whom incorporate unique performance art into their musical performances;
(6) the Latvian State Choir leading a special interactive performance; and
(7) a Masterclass on technique by Opera Singer Jane Archibald.
